Jose Carreras in Torun

The popularity of Jose Carreras has been known to the world since the famous concerts of the three tenors – Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. This coming weekend we are lucky to enjoy live performance of Jose Carreras, who is coming to Torun Thursday afternoon July 29th and is planning to perform on the stage of Torun Motor Arena Saturday July 31st at 8.30p.m. The tenor is staying at the Bulwar Hotel and while in Torun will visit Nicolas Copernicus Hospital, give some interviews,and promised concert on Saturday night. He’ll leave for Barcelona Sunday morning from Bydgoszcz airport. The tickets for the concert are available on www.ticketpro.pl as well as at Empik and Media Markt stores all over the country.

Tofifest International Film Festival

The Tofifest Film Festival this year included over 200 projections over 6 days (26th June to 2nd July) on five screens including free outdoor showings. Tofifest is an annual event in Torun and stands out by supporting rebellious insolent cinema, screening films which look for the truth about contemporary man, provoke discussion about difficult social and political problems. Such films are also presented together with discussions.

Grand Prix Golden Angel Award

11e 10 kala or 10 to 11 won the Grand Prix Golden Angel of Tofifest 2010 this month, the film directed by Turkish director Pelin Esmer is a passionate story involving a concierge and a collector and the place where they live in Istanbul.

Audience Award
The Tofifest audience award went to Felicita, the story of Tamara who lives and works in Italy, she saves some money to support her children who live in Georgia, there is an accident and difficulties ensue, the realities of contemporary capitalism, immigrant workers and rough justice. Directed by Salome Aleksi.

Music Festival at Bulwar Hotel

A music festival of Polish ballads and film songs takes place 21st June. Performed by members of the theatre group Efata – Katazhyna Gucajtis, Leshek Milinski, Jacek Bieshchynski. The concert will be held at the restaurant hall of the exclusive Hotel Bulwar at 7.30 pm and entrance is free. The heavily fortified building was constructed for the Prussian army around 200 years ago and has been lavishly renovated, the reception area has a spacious, minimalist and modern design, it’s well worth taking a look inside and it’s right next to the leaning tower close to the road bridge across the Wisla.

This new blog launched today. The website is developing. We are still playing with the design but after finding Arjuna difficult to use it seems like the Sketchpad theme is working well, plenty of options like admin options, post layout options and custom ad management. It’s been hot in Torun, windows wide open and over 30 degrees c in the office, swimming at the lake was good.
